GoalQuest and the University of West Florida Launch Innovative Student and Parent Outreach Programs New York, New York—September 7, 2005 GoalQuest, Inc. and the University of West Florida today announced the launch of two Web-based initiatives designed to improve the retention of first-year students and reach out to their parents. UWF selected two GoalQuest products, FYRe™ and PICS:FYRe™. FYRe (Freshman Year Retention) is designed to immerse first-time, full-time students in interactive subjects, such as study skills, choosing a major, time management and career planning, while encouraging them to build highly effective habits they can apply to both their academic and personal lives. The program also uses the Company's UPeers™ tool, an interactive student-to-student community that lets participants learn more about one another, form study groups and invite each other to campus events. The PICS:FYRe program (Parents Involved in College Success) helps parents develop their support strategies and consider "best-practices" to aid their role as mentors. The program includes tips and advice, conversation-starters and information on the wide range of resources and services available on campus. Using a proprietary messaging engine, each program acts as a "virtual advisor" that reaches out on a regular basis with new, timely suggestions and advice. At the same time, the programs also create greater affinity toward UWF itself by providing key information on school resources, such as learning centers and tutoring clinics; profiles of university personnel; and places to go for help. In addition, the programs allow administrators to track students at risk of attrition as well as parents who may be dissatisfied with campus services. "At UWF we are excited about the launch of The Athenian and The Guardian to improve and enhance communications with our newest students and their parents," said Deborah Ford, Vice President for Student Affairs. "GoalQuest is providing a service that will make a positive impact on the living and learning experience for our students. The Athenian and The Guardian are two examples of UWF's commitment to student development and success." Along with its two new programs, UWF debuted a GoalQuest module earlier this year designed to yield a greater percentage of its newly admitted students. Also this fall UWF will release an eCRUIT™ program to increase and strengthen a school's high school applicant pool—in both quantity and quality. "We're excited to be expanding our scope of work with the University of West Florida," said Gregory Zeleny, Executive Director of Client Services at GoalQuest. "UWF is one of the fastest-growing schools we work with, an amazing feat during a period of increased competition among colleges and universities for the best students. We firmly believe these new programs will go a long way toward helping UWF meet its enrollment and retention goals and will provide a showcase for GoalQuest's interactive offerings."
