GoalQuest and California Baptist University Find Success in Interactive Recruiting and Yield Initiatives
Next-Generation Web-Based Programs Attract CBU Applicants, Boost University Enrollment
New York, New York — June 30, 2005
Today GoalQuest, Inc. and California Baptist University announced results from two of their joint recruitment and yield projects. CBU began using GoalQuest’s eCRUIT™ and EYOp™ (Enrollment Yield Optimization) tools in 2003. Since that time, the University has witnessed increases in its overall application pool and in the number of admitted students who decide to matriculate as CBU freshmen.
Written, designed and deployed by GoalQuest, each of the programs immerse students in highly interactive, timely content throughout CBU’s recruiting and yield windows.
The University’s eCRUIT program, known to prospects as Stepping Stones: A Practical Guide to Considering Colleges, provides high school students with expert-written advice to help them determine the schools to which they will apply while encouraging them to explore CBU in depth. CBU’s EYOp initiative, e-Vision: An Online Guide to Freshman Success, engages newly admitted students in a dynamic pre-orientation program, outlining enrollment next steps and familiarizing recipients with various aspects of campus academic and social life. e-Vision segments include topics designed to help students grasp the differences between high school and college, prepare for college-level academic work, explore residence life at CBU, develop time management skills, forge meaningful relationships with faculty and get involved in campus clubs and organizations.
GoalQuest’s editorial staff tailored the CBU content to help the University achieve its strategic objective of recruiting and enrolling students who reside beyond a 90-mile radius of its Riverside, California campus.
Last year, CBU and GoalQuest also launched Parent Connection, a program designed to build a "virtual alliance" with parents of prospects, providing practical advice to help them mentor their sons and daughters during the college consideration process.
The programs feature interactive modules, such as surveys that measure users’ attitudes and inclinations, as well as "Ask CBU," a tool that allows participants to ask detailed questions on topics like financial aid, academics and the admissions process. The Ask CBU feature guarantees users an answer from the appropriate university department, typically within 24 hours. By accessing a secure GoalQuest Reporting Center, administrators can instantly measure participants’ progress through the programs, view their responses to survey questions and create a list of "on-the-fence" students/families with whom they should pursue one-on-one conversations.
"We are pleased with GoalQuest’s ability to help us create an interactive experience that both speaks to our audience and provides our enrollment management personnel with timely data that informs our follow-up with recruits and admits," said Dr. Mark A. Wyatt, Vice President for Marketing and Communication. "Perhaps most importantly, we are encouraged by the results our programs have yielded to date and by the return on investment each has demonstrated."
Key Findings
Highlights of the most recent results from the CBU-GoalQuest partnership include:
- Increase in applications. The Stepping Stones program contributed to 65 additional applications and 40 new matriculants.
- Overall increase in yield. The e-Vision program contributed to 137 additional enrolled students, resulting in a yield ratio higher than the University’s historical average.
CBU Benefits From Faith-Based Editorial Expertise
GoalQuest and CBU attribute much of their recent success to the highly targeted, highly granular content that GoalQuest and the University created for the programs. In fact, CBU was one of the first Goalquest clients to benefit from a unique editorial services unit dedicated solely to creating content for faith-oriented and sponsored institutions. "GoalQuest is extremely pleased with both the quality of the CBU eCRUIT and EYOp programs, as well as their ability to demonstrate real value and return on investment for the University," said Peter Kraft, the company’s Chief Executive Officer.
