What is Student HealthQuest?

Student HealthQuest is a comprehensive program designed to promote student physical and psychological health and wellness, prevent the development or exacerbation of psychological disorders, and provide a self-help format to alleviate student distress. It is a customized university-wide wellness campaign, which is deployed throughout the year to the entire student population.

Student HealthQuest is a valuable tool to teach students how to better cope with the typical stresses faced by college students. It also is a beneficial resource for students who are currently waiting for counseling services, those who may be reluctant to seek services from the counseling center due to anxiety or embarrassment, and students who suffer from mild distress and would experience significant symptom relief from online psychoeducational and self-help activities. All students who express moderate to severe distress are referred to the student counseling center and/or crisis helplines for additional assistance and school administrators can elect to receive email alerts about these students.

How Does It Work?

Schools can chose to implement a recommended year-long content delivery plan designed by a team of mental health professionals to track and alleviate common college mental health difficulties, or the program can be customized to release specific school-selected content modules. Students receive weekly, biweekly, or monthly emails (based on the institution's preference) providing topic-specific information and links to the program for completion of self-tests, psychoeducational articles, eSessions (interactive self-guided activities to teach techniques to relieve symptoms), and "homework" assignments to promote self-exploration and behavior change. The content and activities are enhanced with interactive flash, video and audio components.
